Growing up...

is hard, scary, frustrating, busy, overwhelming, new, challenging, and unexpected.

But, it's totally worth it!

No more Chicago!

I just got back from what was, hopefully, my last trip to Chicago! No offense to the midwest...but I do not particularly enjoy spending any part of the winter there. But, nonetheless, my trip was so fun. I got there Friday night and Jacob and I ordered pizza and watched a movie and went swimming in the pool in our hotel room!

Our rental car...Jacob wasn't particularly thrilled with the color. And let's be honest...it is kind of ugly.

Saturday we went and looked around the base and took care of some "Navy Business". Jacob also took me to see the NEX, which is kind of like a mall just for people in the military. Everything is a little bit cheaper, and there's no tax! We went to lunch at Olive Garden and it was so nice to just get to sit and talk and be together. I have learned to not take moments like that for granted! After lunch we went to the mall and shopped together...Jacob won a 40% card at Guess...so obviously it only made sense to pick some things out. It was amazingly fun getting to shop with Jacob and hear his opinions and see what he would find to have me try on. I ended up brining a few things home...thanks babe! We spent the rest of the night watching the Olympics, critiquing the figure skaters, and having a McDonald's picnic (no visit with Jacob is ever complete without at least one trip to McDonald's...).

There were some girl scouts outside the NEX and Jacob and I both wanted some Samoa's (Carmel Delights for you Vegas people) but the booth was sold out! But that didn't stop us...we came back a few hours later. I guess we were a little over enthusiastic...but they were so good!

Sunday came way too fast, just like it always does. We had breakfast at the hotel really early...Jacob still functions on his military time which usually means I get woken up around 5am. After breakfast we took a nap and hung out watching the military channel until we went to Outback for lunch! Aussie Cheese Fries never tasted so good. A few hours later I was already on my way back to airport...it was a quick weekend, but definitely worth the trip.

And here's the best part! Jacob graduates from pre-dive on THURSDAY! That means he gets to go down to Florida...and leave Chicago behind! I'm very excited that he gets to get out of the cold and I get to visit him on the beach...hopefully soon!

Lone Survivor

I just finished reading this book, and it was really good! It's about a Navy Seal team performing a secret mission in the middle east. It really opened my eyes to a lot of things and made me extremely grateful and proud to know Jacob is serving our country. The book is intense and sad, but reading about these men and what they have endured is truly incredible. I recommend!

Short but Sweet

I had a great weekend back home even if it was pretty short, but I definitely packed as much as I could into that small amount of time.
On Friday we went to dinner for Mama Adele's birthday at the Golden Flower. It is my favorite Chinese food restaurant in Vegas. Then Saturday I woke up bright and early to go with Sam to the DMV, and I have to say our experience was quite painless. We actually kind of had fun. We weren't there for more than hour from the moment we pulled into the parking lot to the moment we left. It was great! Then I got to go try on my bridesmaids dress for Sam's wedding! It is super cute and I'm pretty excited to wear it and then add it to my wardrobe later. (Thanks for a picking a "and you can even wear it again" dress, Sam!) I also got to see Sam's new house, SO exciting! I can't wait to see it once they move in! Then, Saturday night I went with Madeline to the movies, and we carried on our tradition of bringing in dinner in our huge purses. I laughed so much that night, it was so nice to get to spend some sister time together.
Sunday it was time to pack up and head back to Flagstaff (told you it was a quick trip!). My mom was planning on staying Sunday night and then driving back on Monday morning, but a small snowstorm kept her here another night which was awesome for me! I got to spend more time with my mom and sleep an extra night in her nice hotel with cable =]

The other highlight of the weekend was Jacob buying a new Mac! We're pretty excited, especially because we can iChat now which I love! Now, I'm just getting through the rest of the week so I can head to Chicago on Friday! Can't wait!

flowers brighten every day!

I forgot to mention that Jacob sent me roses for Valentine's Day. Isn't he the sweetest ever? I know, I love him so much! He always has little surprises up his sleeve, which I admit I adore about him. Thank you Jacob, you always make me smile.
