Wife Stuff

Moving into a brand new apartment with almost none of our stuff has been an adventure...and the best part is we still have no idea when our stuff is supposed to get here. Awesome right? But, even with all our empty rooms we are still making progress. For starters, I'm getting all set up with classes at Tidewater Community College. The best part is I can take all of my classes for the fall online so while Jacob is at work, I can be getting things done! The sooner I get my degree the better, right?

Also, on the more wifey side of things...I officially gave my first haircut! First of all, I can't even believe Jacob let me near his head with a razor, especially considering the only experience I had was a 5 minute youtube video on the topic. However, at the risk of sounding immodest, I think I rocked it! It was actually really fun and I can't wait to do it again! Plus, another added benefit is the money we'll save. It's not a whole lot, but considering Jacob has a job where clean cut hair is required I like to think I'm contributing a little!

Sitting at home all day while Jacob is one base isn't the most exhilirating thing in the world, but there are a few things that have kept me occupied. First is putting together furniture. We bought all of our furniture unassembled because it was cheaper and it fits in our small car. So far I've put together 2 dressers, 2 nightstands, 3 bookshelves, and a tv stand. I've also done a lot of cleaning trying to find places for everything we brought in the car so when everything else arrives there will be space for it. But most importantly, the thing that has been getting me through the days is Army Wives...yes the tv show. Jacob bought me the seasons so I could watch them at home. Obviously, once school starts that will keep me busy, but until then Army Wives has been keeping me company.

The other thing I love that I just discovered are the Fruitista Freeze's from Taco Bell. They are amazing.

Other than that not much is new here in Chesapeake, VA...just still trying to find our way around!

Wedding Presents to Ourselves

Getting into our new apartment, we basically didn't have anything at all, so Jacob and I bought ourselves two big presents to make the transition a little easier.

An LG, front loading washer and dryer. I've already done about 6 loads of laundry and I am loving it!

AND...

This bed is everything I have ever hoped or dreamed a bed could be. It is perfection in mattress form. I'm telling you...this is the bed you need. Yes, it is kind of pricey...but this is a long time investment and worth every penny. Seriously. I have spent 2 nights in heaven.

Road Trip to Virginia!

I still cannot believe we drove all the way across the country...but we did! Overall, the drive really was not as bad as I was expecting, but that doesn't mean I want to do it again anytime soon! I loved getting to spend time with Jacob after spending so much time apart. Surprisingly, I didn't take very many pictures at all...but that's because when you sit in the car all day for a week, there isn't much to take pictures of.

Our first stop was in Flagstaff, AZ, where we first met =) We were hoping to get all the way to Albuquerque the first day but by the time the movers finished up it was almost 6 o'clock, so we settled for Flagstaff. We ate breakfast at The Place and of course, went shopping at the Basement before getting right back in the car.

On Day 2, we drove to Albuquerque, NM where we stopped to get gas and stretch our legs on the temple grounds. On the way there we hit a HUGE rain storm where we could barely see anything...it was pretty crazy. Then, it was right back in the car and onto Amarillo, TX!

Day 3: We loved driving through Texas! It was a lot different than I imagined, and we both thought it would be cool to live there one day. It was very green and open. We passed through tons of small little towns on our way to Terrell, TX, and town about twenty miles outside of Dallas. About halfway there, we realized Jacob left his wedding ring in the hotel room in Amarillo. We called the hotel, but unfortunately we haven't heard anything since. We got to Terrell on the earlier side, so we went to the outlet mall that was right next door to our hotel. It was fun to look around and eat something other than fast food for a change.

On Day 4 we were off to Jackson, Mississippi! Our night in Mississippi was one of my favorites. Our hotel was right next to a Bass Pro Shops and a minor league baseball field. We played hunting games in Bass Pro and Jacob got us tickets to a game that night.

The Mississippi Braves are the Atlanta Braves AAA team and they were playing Tennessee, the Cubs AAA team. The Braves weren't doing too hot, but Jacob got a hat anyway.

Day 5: Off to Panama City, FL! We had to go back to Panama City so Jacob could officially check out of his command. While we were there, we decided to stay in one of the beach front resorts and it was amazing! I could have easily stayed there for a week.

Day 6: We headed out of Florida pretty early because we had a LONG drive ahead of us. We passed through Florida, Georgia, and into South Carolina where we stayed in Santee. Chances are you haven't heard of it...that's because it's TINY. We did see a gator in a swamp in Georgia.

Day 7: Virginia...here we come! Getting to Virginia was really overwhelming. First of all, none of their freeways go the way they say they're going, which is confusing and weird. Second, it was really miserable rainy weather and we were lost and confused. We first went to look at an apartment, that we ended up liking so we started the paperwork on that which took awhile. Finally we made it to an on base hotel...and just in time. It was already raining pretty hard when we got there, but once we were in our room it started going crazy. Lightning was flashing every 10 seconds and you couldn't even see out the window the rain was coming down so hard. Eventually it calmed down a little and Jacob and I ventured out to go to the Exchange to shop a little bit. Then the rain started to pick up again so we went back to the hotel.

So here we are in Virginia, getting settle into our new place and trying to figure this place out.

I had such a great time having the Foyston's in town! Most of them had never been to Vegas so we had fun exploring. I miss them already.

Jacob looooves the penny slots! Haley gave him a dollar to play with and he ended up making 15 bucks!

The WEDDING!

I loved every second of my wedding. It meant so much to me that all the people I care about could be there to celebrate. Jacob and I had been waiting for that day for a long time, and it was worth it! My photographer's pictures are on their way so I'll add them as soon as I get them!

The breaking of the glass is a Jewish tradition meant to symbolize how fragile a marriage is.

Rehearsal Dinner

I can't believe how fast it all happened once Jacob got to Las Vegas. Things were hectic almost immediately, but I am learning to love the chaos that is Foyston Family Gatherings. Anyway, the rehearsal dinner was Friday, July 16th and we had a bbq style in my backyard. I seriously couldn't have asked for anything better than that. Everyone got to relax and hang out. Jacob and I hung little lanterns and lights from the trees and patio covering and they looked so cute =). I loved the way everything turned out...except I hardly took any pictures! I'm sure there will be some circulating around somewhere. At least I hope so! Thank you thank you thank you to the in-laws and my parents for making my rehearsal dinner exactly what I imagined!

Don't worry, wedding updates are on the way!! But, if you know me you know that I have to do everything in order, so as soon as I get pictures organized I can report on the rehearsal dinner, wedding stuff, and all the other things Jacob and I have done since he got here! I'm impatient too, don't worry!

Jacob is a Navy Diver!

Today is the day! Jacob graduated from Navy Dive School and he is on his way to Las Vegas!

Let forever begin!
